We asked

What are your views on the government's proposals to change the NHS?

You said

There should be more clinical input into decision making. Private companies should have to meet the same high standards and training as NHS services before they are allowed to take on NHS contracts.

We did

Fed local views into the national listening exercise.

In May 2010, NHS Stockport undertook its own local listening exercise to understand the views and concerns of staff and members of the local community with regard to planned changes in the NHS structures.

Members of staff were invited to attend a workshop at the PCT, where a presentation was given on the government proposals. This was followed by a brief questions and answers session. Finally, staff were asked to leave comments and questions around the four main areas of the listening exercise.

In addition, a survey was circulated to local community groups, asking for their views on the plans.

Around 100 people took part in the consultation work. The following document brings together views expressed to NHS Stockport during this exercise.

This information was be submitted to the official Government Listening Exercise, to NHS North West and at an event with members of the Future Forum.

Views will also be used in decision making at a local level by Stockport’s GP Commissioning Pathfinder organisation.
